Dr. Patrice Barnes-Tracey earned both her Master's degree and Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Social Service at Fordham University. Her scholarly work has made meaningful contributions to the advancement of child welfare practice, with particular emphasis on improving outcomes for children and families impacted by complex trauma, systemic inequities, and mental health challenges. Through her research and professional engagement, Dr. Barnes-Tracey integrates empirical inquiry with applied practice to inform more responsive, ethical, and trauma-informed child welfare systems.

Dr. Barnes-Tracey is an expert in child welfare practice and mental health, with a career spanning direct service, leadership, clinical practice, and higher education. Her professional journey includes extensive tenure within public and nonprofit social service systems, where she partnered with and served multiple Child Welfare Agencies across Connecticut and New York. In addition to her systems-level work, Dr. Barnes-Tracey maintains a private practice with a clinical focus on trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based interventions, and the integration of evidence-informed therapeutic approaches that promote healing, resilience, and emotional regulation across the lifespan.

She further imparts her expertise as an adjunct lecturer at several colleges and universities throughout New York and Connecticut, where she bridges theory and practice to prepare the next generation of human service professionals. In addition to her academic and clinical roles, Dr. Barnes-Tracey is a professional speaker, delivering keynote addresses, workshops, and professional trainings to interdisciplinary audiences across child welfare, mental health, education, and social service sectors.

Her professional achievements are further complemented by her dedication to teaching and mentoring both emerging and seasoned social workers. Widely recognized for her innovative and integrative approach to social work practice, Dr. Barnes-Tracey's continued research, clinical and non-clinical experience, education, and public service pursuits underscore her enduring commitment to advancing social work practice with children and families and improving mental health outcomes for the most vulnerable populations.
